- Negli USA, un diner è una sorta di ristorante dove i clienti si siedono al banco invece che ai tavoli. Originariamente, i diners degli anni '50 proponevano nel menu hamburgers, patate fritte e altri piatti rapidi. Oggi sono famosi per i loro menu, che sembrano quasi dei romanzi. Vi si possono consumare, tra le altre cose, panini, bistecche, pollo e piatti a base di uova. Molti diners sono gestiti da immigrati greci e propongono pertanto anche delle specialità greche.
