- Il Big Ben era, originariamente, il soprannome dato a una campana di grandi dimensioni, fusa nel 1856, posta in cima alla torre delle Houses of Parliament. A battezzarla con questo nome è stato Sir Benjamin Hall, Chief Commissioner of Works. Oggigiorno Big Ben viene usato per indicare sia la campana che la torre. Movies filmed wholly or partly at Cinecittà include "Quo vadis?" "Ben Hur", and "The Name of the Rose."
