- El Highland dress o kilt es el nombre que recibe el traje tradicional escocés. Procede del siglo XVI y en aquel entonces se componía de una única pieza. A partir del siglo XVII esta pieza única se convierte en dos distintas: el kilt (falda escocesa) y el plaid (capa de lana). De esta época procede también el sporran (una bolsa que cuelga del cinturón). Hasta el siglo XVIII no se diseñan los diferentes tartans (modelos de diseños escoceses) para cada familia o clan. Muchos hombres siguen poniéndose el kilt en acontecimientos especiales, como por ejemplo, una boda.
