Akwaaba – Willkommen im Kinder Paradise Ghana.
„Lernen für ein besseres Leben” ist das Motto dieser Einrichtung, welches sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, die Not der Straßen- und Waisenkinder von Accra zu lindern.
Kinder Paradise ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein, und betreut insgesamt 128 Kinder und Jugendliche, die auf der Straße lebten oder deren Leben aufgrund besonderer Umstände gefährdet war.

“To learn for a better life“ is the main issue of this institution which has set itself the target to relieve the distress of street children and orphans in Accra.
Kinder Paradise is a non-profit association and cares for a total of 128 children and teenagers who used to live on the streets or whose lives were at risk due to certain circumstances.

Im Rahmen eines Pilotvorhabens hat sich die deutsche EZ bereits am Stipendienprogramm „Wings to Fly“ beteiligt und fördert derzeit 350 bedürftige Kinder - mehrheitlich Mädchen und oft Waisenkinder - durch Stipendien, Mentorenprogramme und außerschulischen Veranstaltungen.
2014 beenden die ersten dieser StipendiatInnen ihre schulische Ausbildung, beginnen eine berufliche Laufbahn oder nehmen ein Studium auf.

Am 1. Juni 2013 veranstaltete die Niederländische Botschaft in Kooperation mit dem Goethe-Institut Kabul einen Kindertag für Waisenkinder aus Afghanistan.
Hierzu gab es neben Spiel und Spaß für 70 Kinder auch eine Vorführung des Puppentheaters PARWAZ.

On June 1st, 2013, the Royal Dutch Embassy in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Kabul organized a “Kids’ day” for Afghan orphans.
Altogether 70 kids enjoyed games and fun and a presentation of PARWAZ Puppet Theatre.

Andererseits fanden erste Videoaufnahmen der Interaktion zwischen Schwesternschülerinnen und Waisenkindern im Irente Children´s Home statt.

Als Waisenkinder oder von ihren Familien getrennt, wachsen sie in extremer Armut und unter schwierigsten Lebensbedingungen in den Straßen der Stadt auf. Sie sind auf sich allein gestellt und werden leicht Opfer von Gewalt, Vergewaltigungen und Aggressionen jeglicher Art, denn sie stehen am untersten Ende des ohnehin prekären Sozialsystems von Burkina Faso.

Being orphans or children without families, the Bakroman live and grow up in conditions of extreme poverty in the streets of the city, left to take care of themselves and moreover subject to violence, rape and other forms of aggression.

Die Krankenschwester Irene Willoughby gründete das Waisenhaus vor 40 Jahren.
