In der jüngeren Zeit wurde in dieser Forschungslinie die Konzeption von kognitiven, KI-gestützten Steuerungen zur Planung flexibler, adaptiver Montagesysteme mit großer Produktvielfalt – Stichwort „Factory of the Future“ - ein wichtiges Thema.

This includes the line of research that has been pursued for the past ten years into semi-autonomous systems in the form of electronically linked lorry convoys.In the future, this line of research will increasingly deal with further automation elements and will be expanded to include fully autonomous driving.
An important topic within this line of research has recently been the conception of cognitive, AI-supported control systems for planning flexible, adaptive assembly systems with large product diversity – such as in the case of “Factory of the Future”.
