Die neuen Eigner Thomas und Nicola Herion haben 2012 begonnen, die Finkenwerder Fischergeschichte wieder aufzunehmen.
Nachdem die Masten wieder auf Originalhöhe gebracht wurden, das Rigg und Besegelung erstellt werden und das originale Schollennetz nun an Bord ist, soll die „ Rungholt “ wieder an alte Fischereitradition anknüpfen und mit Besegelung und Netzdavids ausgestattet wieder auf Fangfahrt gehen – zur traditionellen Anschauung.
Infolge ihres sehr seetüchtigen S-Spant und des passablen Ballastanteils wird die HF 510 „ Rungholt “ die gesamte Nordsee bis nach Schottland befahren können und wird entsprechend ausgestattet.
