The film begins as a treasure hunt for gold and silver coins hidden in a house that has burned down and ends as an ethnological and sociological study on an Italian immigrant family in a small mountain village in Ticino.
The story is told from the perspective of the grandchildren’s generation living in Zurich who only know the village in Ticino from their holidays with their parents – and their grandparents’ homeland in Italy from tales told by family members.

Der Film beginnt als eine Schatzsuche nach versteckten Gold- und Silbermünzen in einem abgebrannten Haus und endet als ethnologische und soziologische Studie über eine italienische Einwandererfamilie in einem kleinen Tessiner Bergdorf.
Die Geschichte wird erzählt aus der Perspektive der in Zürich aufgewachsenen Enkelgeneration, die das Tessiner Dorf der Eltern nur aus den Ferien und die Heimat der Grosseltern in Italien nur noch aus Erzählungen kennt.
