The turnovers attained by Sotheby’s with Burgundy wines from the Domaine de la Romanée Conti substantiate the purchasers’ interest in wines with provenience: Most recently, during an auction also taking place in Hong Kong, Sotheby’s attained 3.67 million HKD (347,000 euro) for 12 bottles of the 1978 vintage.
“While for serious collectors a complete proof of origin has been a precondition for their investment since ever, the eyes of the wine scene have been sharpened during the past few months”, Jamie Pollak, CEO of Zachys, says.
