Hierbei werden verschiedene Informationen über das Umfeld des mobilen Kommunikationsknotens verarbeitet, um die Auswahl der Kommunikationswege festzulegen (self-awareness, policy based access).
Hierzu gehören auch eine kontinuierliche QoS-Messung der mobilen Übertragungsstrecke sowie ein schnelles Erkennen von Übertragungsproblemen mit dem Abbau einer schlechten Verbindung, um die Kommunikationssituation insgesamt zu verbessern.

To achieve this objective, diverse information regarding the surroundings of the mobile node will be processed in order to determine the communication choices currently at hand (self-awareness, policy based access).
Therefore, continuous QoS measurements along the route, the quick identification of communication problems as well as the ability to tear down a low quality connection are some of the required means to achieve an overall improvement of the communication status.
