Die fachliche Ausrichtung der GSaME wird durch die Ergebnisse des Stuttgarter Sonderforschungsbereichs ( SFB ) „ Wandlungsfähige Unternehmensstrukturen für die variantenreiche Serienfertigung “ geprägt.
In dem SFB entstand ein Unternehmensmodell, das sogenannte „Stuttgarter Unternehmensmodell“, dessen Kerngedanken sind:
