Die Steinkirche ist ein großer, fast exakt rechteckiger Raum mit einem dreieckigen Vorplatz.
Sie befindet sich hoch oben im Talhang über Scharzfeld.
In der Eiszeit wurde diese Höhle durch ein Tal angeschnitten und so zugänglich.

Das Steinerne Haus liegt etwas niedriger als die Schertelshöhle am gegenüberliegenden Talhang und ist auf einem gut befestigten Wanderweg zu erreichen.
Die Entfernung ist etwa 300m oder 15 Minuten.

Hier zweigt man rechts ab und steigt den linken Talhang hinauf.
Nun folgt man den Schildern zuerst zur Hintenkar-Nieder- und dann zur pittoresken Hintenkar-Hochalm.
