Der Tunnel verläuft von Süden nach Norden und wird an der Nordseite - beginnend im Baggervortrieb gefertigt.
Der Vortrieb erfolgt getrennt nach Kalotte, Strosse und Sohle.
Zur Sicherung der äußeren Spritzbetonschale im Tunnel kommen insgesamt ca. 45.000 m des Bodenvernagelungssystems DYWIDAG mit Hohlstäben TYP R32N zum Einsatz.
