Die Akademie für Alte Musik, das Atelier Neue Musik, eine Kirchenmusikausbildung inmitten einer der reichsten Orgellandschaften Europas, eine lebendige Jazzabteilung, eine praxisorientierte Musikpädagogik sowie eine fundierte Musikwissenschaft gewährleisten in allen Studiengängen zeitgemäße Studienbedingungen.
Sie werden eingerahmt und befruchtet durch vielfältige Kooperationen mit internationalen Partnerhochschulen sowie eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit weiteren Bremer Kultureinrichtungen wie den Bremer Philharmonikern, dem Theater Bremen, der Dom- und verschiedenen Kirchengemeinden, der Universität sowie mehreren allgemeinbildenden Schulen.
Seit 1991 hat der Fachbereich Musik seinen Sitz direkt in der Bremer Innenstadt in der Nähe von Marktplatz und Roland.
