Auf der Grundlage dieses Verfahrens konnte Tartaglia nicht nur in Bezug auf die maximale Reichweite quantitative Schlüsse ziehen, sondern auch in Bezug auf die Schwankungen in der destruktiven Kraft von Kanonenschüssen in Abhängigkeit von der Entfernung zwischen Ziel und Kanone sowie von der Elevation des Geschützes.
Die Versuche mit Kanonen, von denen Tartaglia in seinem Werk berichtet, stehen symbolisch für den Hintergrund, vor dem die neue Wissenschaft der Ballistik entstand.

On the basis of this procedure, Tartaglia was able to draw quantitative consequences not only concerning the maximal range, but also concerning the variation in the destructive power of cannon shots in dependence on the distance between target and cannon, and on the elevation of the artillery.
The tests executed by means of cannons, around which Tartaglia narrates in his work, merely symbolize the background against which the new science of ballistics emerged.
