Als Dozent wird er regelmäßig nach Spanien, Kanada und Südamerika eingeladen, um sein profundes Wissen über das Spiel der Viola da gamba und zur Historischen Aufführungspraxis weiterzugeben.
Neben seiner Karriere als Gambist war er von 1999 bis 2005 Direktionsassistent von Marc Minkowski und hat verschiedene große Opernproduktionen betreut.

Die hundert Kilometer nördlich von Weimar gelegene Stadt war seit 1603 die Residenz des Fürsten von Anhalt-Köthen. Fürst Lepold war ein guter Violonist, Gambist und Cellist, der zudem "einen guten Bass" sang.
