Dort wechselte er im Jahr 2000 in den Bereich Chip Card , wo er die Entwicklung neuer Chipkarten Plattformen mit zwei hoch ausgezeichneten Plattformen erfolgreich führte .
Seit 2010 hat Prof. Sigl den neu gründeteten Lehrstuhl für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik an der TUM inne und ist als Stellvertretender Direktor des Fraunhofer Institutes für Sichere Informationstechnologie in München für die Hardware-nahe Sicherheit zuständig.
