During the flight programme that concluded in March 2010, the equipment recorded how motion sickness indicators manifested themselves on first-time flyers experiencing weightlessness during the 22 seconds of each of the 31 parabolic flights on the Airbus A300.
In this interview, Dr Bernd Johannes from the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine ( Institut für Luft- und Raumfahrtmedizin ) explains why these data are important for astronauts on the International Space Station ( ISS ).

www.dlr.deIn 1985, Ulrike Friedrich gave up her teaching and research position in Biology at the University of Bonn to work for the DLR Space Agency ( DLR Raumfahrt-Agentur ).
She already knew DLR from the time she completed part of the research for her doctoral thesis at the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine ( DLR-Institut für Luft- und Raumfahrtmedizin ).
From then on, the PhD graduate in Biology would no longer be a full-time lecturer and researcher, but rather more of a manager, assessing scientific proposals and arranging content-related and financial support for research projects.

New experiments will be added, such as projects of the Charité academic hospital in Berlin and the German Sport University Cologne on human thermal and circulatory regulation, or of the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine (DLR-Institut für Luft- und Raumfahrtmedizin) on the interplay between salt and water homeostasis and bone metabolism.
