Train stations are per se sites of diversity, and it is not for nothing that the opening sequence of Walther Ruttmann ’ s film Berlin – Symphony of a Metropolis ( 1927 ) shows a train arriving at Anhalter Bahnhof.
Under the National Socialist regime, the diversity that had characterized Potsdamer Platz gradually disappeared.
