Die sich daraus ergebende umfangreiche Lehr- und Prüfungstätigkeit spiegelt sich neben dem Kerncurriculum in einer Vielzahl von Wahlpflicht-Angeboten wider.
Hier reichen die Themen von der Molekularen Pathogenese bakterieller Infektionskrankheiten und das Vorkommen und die Bedeutung exotischer Zoonosen über das Verständnis und den Einsatz von Impfstoffen bis hin zu Themen wie dem „Prudent Use“ von Antibiotika oder die angewandte Infektionsepidemiologie.
Die genannten Tätigkeiten finden ihren Ausdruck in vier Arbeitsgruppen, die im IMT etabliert sind:
