Unter Anleitung von Mark Dion und den Kuratoren des Museums \ “ plündern \ ” Studenten des Fachbereichs Bildende Kunst die Sammlungen des Museums :
Sie wählen aus den Abteilungen für Bildende Kunst, Naturkunde, Archäologie und Völkerkunde Objekte aus, anhand derer die Sammlung und das Sammeln oder generell das Konstruieren und Präsentieren von Wissenschaft und Natur abgebildet werden können.
In einem zweiten Schritt integrieren die Studenten dann ihre Fundstücke – Tierpräparate, frühzeitliche Werkzeuge oder Skulpturen – in den Kontext der Ausstellung.

The students will choose objects from the departments of art, archeology, natural history and ethnology as examples of collections and collecting showing how the construction and presentation of science and nature can be portrayed.
In a second step, the students then integrate their found objects –stuffed animals, early tools and sculptures – within the context of the exhibition.

The Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Görlitz has published the Bibliographia Oribatologica since 1968 and the Bibliographia Mesostigmatologica since 1990 as a supplement of its journal “Abhandlungen und Berichte des Naturkundemuseums Görlitz”.
As of 2001 the bibliographies have been published as the new periodical „ACARI - Bibliographia Acarologica“.Three issues are published yearly containing the new publications from around the world on the mite groups Mesostigmata, Oribatida and Actinedida, including the newly described taxa.
